The Unbroken Line

The Unbroken Line is based on the book of the same name written by Spencer Kopf, a Texas attorney, and former Dallas Cowboys great Billy Joe DuPree, both of whom were responsible for the actions that settled the pivotal 1982 NFL players’ strike. It tells the story of the conditions and unknown world of the typical NFL player in a pre-free agency world. The Book contains a foreword from Pro Football Hall of Fame player and Coach Mike Ditka and is dedicated to the late Lamar Hunt. In addition to the passages authored by Messrs. Kopf and DuPree, the book contains contributions from Noel Brown, Tony Davis, Fred Dean, Joe DeLamielleure, Anthony Dickerson, John Hogan, Barry Horn, Jerri Mote, Scott Murray and Norm Wells, who were all involved in some way with the events that took place in 1982.

In the events that unfolded this true story reveals the behind-the-scenes account of the dramatic events that led to one of the most important turning points in NFL player history and forecasted the current and deplorable treatment and situations retired players still face today. With many current players and more than 80 NFL Hall of Famers aware of and expected to support the project, The Unbroken Line is a timely and important story that touches on many issues related to our current political and economic conditions as well as the collective bargaining and player retirement issues being addressed in most professional sports leagues today.

Greg Aiello, former NFL Public Relations Director and #1 spokesperson for the NFL, recommended the book "The Unbroken Line" by Billy Joe DuPree as a must read book.
